Along with the release of the Xperia T2 Ultra in Malaysia and Russia, Sony has kicked off the pre-orders for the mid-range phablet in Hong Kong. Only the single-SIM version of the smartphone is now up for pre-purchase in the country, as the dual-SIM model is aimed at emerging markets.

According to XperiaBlog, the phablet can now be pre-ordered in Hong Kong for HKD $3,498 off contract, which is about $450 or €330.

This seems much higher than the price of the Xperia T2 Ultra in Malaysia, where customers can purchase it for only $395 (€290) outright.

Malaysian customers also receive some goodies for free with the purchase of the Xperia T2 Ultra, but Sony Mobile Hong Kong has yet to announce any promo offers for pre-ordering the phablet.

Although the smartphone will go on sale with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, Sony has confirmed that it won’t be long before Xperia T2 Ultra owners are able to upgrade their devices to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Other highlights of the mid-range smartphone include quad-core processor, huge 6-inch HD capacitive touchscreen display, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and high-capacity 3000 mAh non-removable battery.
