Sony fans in Malaysia will be pleased to know that the Japanese company has just introduced the Xperia T2 Ultra mid-range smartphone in the country.

As XperiaBlog points out, the smartphone is now available for purchase for RM 1,299 outright, which is about $395 or €290. Along with Russia, Malaysia is among the first countries to get the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra.

Although customers in Malaysia may think that the Xperia T2 Ultra is a bit on the expensive side considering its specs, they should know that Sony also offers 6 months of free music unlimited subscription powered by Akazoo.

In addition, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra owners will be able to download three movies for free via Privilege Movies beginning May 1.

Keep in mind that for the time being, only the single-SIM version of Xperia T2 Ultra has been made available in Malaysia, so those hoping for the dual-SIM variant to arrive will probably have to wait a bit longer or purchase it from somewhere else.

Sadly, the smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, though Sony has confirmed that an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will be available for download.

Apart from that, the Xperia T2 Ultra offers quite decent features, such as quad-core CPU, a large display (too large for some) and a high-capacity battery.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is a mid-range phablet that sports a huge 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display. The phone’s screen supports HD (720p) resolution and only 245ppi (pixel density), but on a more positive note, it embeds Sony’s TRILUMINOUS and Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technologies.

Hardware-wise, the phablet comes equipped with a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. There are 8GB of storage inside, but more internal memory can be added via microSD card (up to 32GB).

On the back, the Xperia T2 Ultra boasts an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper that features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 1.1-megapixel camera in the front for video calls.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is powered by a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery, which should provide up to 1,050 hours of standby time or up to 14 hour of talk time.

On the side note, the dual-SIM version of Xperia T2 Ultra has just been introduced in Russia as well, but the smartphone costs no less than $495 (€360) off contract.
