Unveiled back in January, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra has been confirmed to arrive in several markets in March, while the rest of the world is likely to get the smartphone in April.

Many UK-based retailers announced that they would stock the Xperia T2 Ultra beginning April, though a certain release date is still pending. In China, the smartphone will arrive sometime this week, while customers in Russia will be able to grab the device by the end of March, GSMArena reports.

According to an official press release issued by Sony Mobile Russia, the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual (that’s the dual-SIM model) will arrive in the motherland by the end of this month.

The Japanese company also revealed the suggested retail price for Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual, which has been set to RUB 17,490 (€350 / $485) outright.

The dual-SIM version of Sony Xperia T2 Ultra will only be released in emerging markets or territories where the demand for such smartphones is extremely high (China, India, Russia).

The rest of the countries will get the single-SIM version, but the price difference between the two models will probably be negligible or non-existent.

In terms of hardware and software configuration both smartphones are absolutely identical, but the dual-SIM version will offer slightly more battery life than the single-SIM model.

The bad news is that the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual as well as its single-SIM twin brother will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

There’s no telling if Sony will ever offer an upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in the future, so those looking for mid-range smartphones powered by Google’s latest mobile OS may want to look elsewhere (HTC Desire 816 might be a better choice).

However, for those who really need dual-SIM capability, the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is the obvious choice if HTC does not launch the dual-SIM Desire 816 in Russia.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual’s insides are more than decent for a mid-range smartphone. The device is equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, and 1GB of RAM.

It also boasts a huge 6.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and Sony’s TRILUMINOUS and Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technologies.

As mentioned earlier, the dual-SIM version of Xperia T2 Ultra is powered by a non-removable 3000 mAh that should provide up to 1,120 hours of standby time (1,093 hours in 3G mode) or up to 16 hours of talk time (up to 30 hours in 3G mode).
