Several weeks ago, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile said that it would not make the Xperia T2 Ultra smartphone available for purchase in Europe, but it appears that the company has changed its mind.

Following Sony’s initial announcement, even retailers that had the device listed as up for pre-order removed it from their offerings, yet it appears that enthusiasts are actually in luck.

The smartphone can already be seen listed on the Official Sony Mobile Store in the UK, where it sports a price tag of £319.99 ($537/€397), but can also be purchased on other markets in Europe.

Featuring a price tag of around €399 ($540), the handset has been released in Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

However, as XperiaBlog notes in a recent post, it’s interesting to point out that the phone hasn’t been released in Germany as well.

For those out of the loop, we should reveal that Sony Xperia T2 Ultra was made official as one of the largest handsets in the company’s lineup, courtesy of its 6-inch touchscreen.

This HD TRILUMINOS Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 for mobile picture engine is capable of delivering a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, which is not the best possible considering its size, but should still provide an appealing experience to users.

Moreover, the smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8928 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. The phone also sports Adreno 305 graphics.

On the back, the Xperia T2 Ultra features a 13-megapixel camera with Sony Exmor RS for mobile sensor, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution.

The mobile phone is powered by a 3000mAh battery capable of offering up to 24 hours of talk time, or up to 1046 hours of standby time on 3G networks. The handset measures 165.2 x 83.8 x 7.65mm and weighs 172 grams.

On the downside, the phone runs under the older Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, though it might receive an update to the newer Android 4.4 KitKat in the coming months.

“Feel your spine tingle as you walk to the office? With the Xperia T2 Ultra, the excitement is always – and we mean always – close at hand. Lose yourself in blockbuster films, video clips and TV shows,” Sony notes on its website.

“Seamlessly access your stored files and online content on your home screen with Sony’s media app. View it all on the bright 6” TRILUMINOS HD Display for mobile. Built with the same groundbreaking technology as Sony BRAVIA TVs, the Xperia T2 Ultra boasts amazingly vivid color reproduction.”
