Canadian wireless carrier Fido is getting ready for the launch of a new Android-based smartphone for its users, namely the Sony Xperia SP, which should land on shelves at Rogers too in the not too distant future.

No specific info on when the mobile phone might be put up for sale at the wireless carrier has emerged until now, but MobileSyrup notes that it should not be long at all until that happens. Apparently, dummy units have already started to arrive at retail locations.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 4.6-inch 720p touchscreen display, as well as with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor inside, and 1GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the device sports 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back with support for HD video recording, and Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS loaded on top.
