Unveiled last month, Sony Xperia SP and Xperia L have been confirmed to arrive in the UK in Q2 2013. At least one UK-based retailer hinted to a possible release of the phones in late April and now we’ve just received additional confirmation that Xperia SP and Xperia L will arrive this month.

UnwiredView reports that Carphone Warehouse has announced that both Sony Xperia SP and Xperia L will be available for purchase beginning this month.

Clove and Expansys also confirm that they will offer the Android devices beginning this month, so there’s no doubt that Xperia SP and Xperia L will hit shelves in the UK at some point in April.

Potential customers should know that Sony Xperia SP will be available for £320 (€380/$480), while the Xperia L will be available for much lower as the phone has been priced at £240 (€285/$360).

Both smartphones will be released with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but it won’t come as a surprise if Sony offers an Android 4.2.2 upgrade in the coming months.

For the time being, the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are the only smartphones confirmed to receive the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update.

Although both Xperia SP and Xperia L come with 8-megapixel rear camera and secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls, the former is much more powerful.

Sony Xperia SP is equipped with a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. The Xperia L features a less powerful 1GHz dual-core CPU, an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Both handsets pack 8GB (5.8GB user available) of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

It is also worth mentioning that Xperia SP sports a large 4.6-inch Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating, whereas the Xperia L has a smaller 4.3-inch display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution.
