Sony Xperia SP is still stuck on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, while some users have even older versions of the platform installed on their devices.

The only thing they have in common is the fact that both types of users are anxiously waiting to receive the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Unfortunately, there are no official details on the matter yet. Sony Mobile is still considering whether or not to release a KitKat update for the Xperia SP.

A few carriers have already informed their customers who own the Xperia SP that the smartphone will not be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat, but Sony Mobile has yet to confirm it.

Anyway, it appears that the Xperia SP will eventually receive an update very soon, but it won’t be the long-awaited Android 4.4 KitKat. According to XperiaBlog, Spanish carrier Vodafone has confirmed to one of its customers that Xperia SP will receive a new update.

Apparently, Sony has told Vodafone’s officials that it has started working on a new version of the software, “but it has not given details about changes that could be included in this new version nor have provided a forecast for output.”

The only thing confirmed by Sony is that the next Android 4.3 update for Xperia SP will bring the software to version 12.1.A.1.203. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
