One of the first Xperia phones to wear Sony’s own branding, the Xperia S is a real masterpiece when it comes to design. At least that’s how good the press shots look like.

Rumor has it that the Xperia S is about to hit shelves within the next few days, but Sony has yet to officially confirm the exact release of the smartphone.

All in all, it appears that the company is trying to increase the excitement around its new Xperia S and ion devices by revealing tidbits of information from behind the scene.

In this regard, Sony explained on its official Facebook account that Xperia S features a special coating that protects it against stains. Dubbed anti-stain shell, this material has been confirmed by one of Sony’s product managers.

The same official also mentioned that the Xperia S featured a fast charging ability that allows it to charge enough energy in 10 minutes to last for approximately one hour of full use.

Sony Xperia S comes with a high capacity 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 450 hours of standby time (420 hours in 3G mode) or 7 hours and 30 minutes of talk time (8 hours and 30 minutes in 3G mode).

However, Sony claims that the charging times for this battery will be halved, though we don’t know whether or not this will have a negative impact on the battery’s life.

Also known as Sony Ericsson Xperia Nozomi, the Xperia S features an astounding 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display, which is based on Sony mobile BRAVIA technology.

The phone’s display supports 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and 16 million colors. Scratch-resistant glass is included as well.

There’s also an impressive 12-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, as well as full HD (1080p) video recording.
