The smartphone can also be purchased via Three carrier

Three is the first carrier to debut the Sony Xperia S in the UK. One day after its official UK release, another carrier starts offering the Xperia S, O2.

SoMobile reports Sony Xperia S is now up for grabbing at O2 for free on a 24 month £21.50 plan. Obviously there are other pricing options as well, but seems to be the cheapest.

However, cheap comes with certain disadvantages, so customers who commit to this plan should know they will only get 300 minutes, 500 O2-to-O2 minutes, unlimited SMS texts and 500MB of mobile data.

It is also worth mentioning Sony Xperia S will soon be available at O2 for £399 (625 USD or 475 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go).

Those looking forward to purchase the Xperia S from O2 should know that the carrier will also release the Xperia U and Xperia P smartphones sometime next month.

All three are part of Sony's new Xperia NXT series, which was unveiled two weeks ago at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

Currently, Xperia S is Sony's Android flagship smartphone, but word is that the Japanese company plans to launch a much better device sometime this summer.

Although Sony Xperia S is shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, the smartphone is scheduled to receive an Ice Cream Sandwich update in Q2 2012.

The phone is equipped with a dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit.

In addition, the handset packs 32GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the Xperia S lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Another strong point of the device is the hyper-vibrant 4.3-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 1280 pixels. The screen is based on Sony Mobile Bravia engine technology and features scratch-resistant glass.
