Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new Sony smartphone on its airwaves, namely the Xperia P.
Unveiled earlier this year in the new Xperia
lineup from Sony, the smartphone packs mid- to high-end features and capabilities.
It sports a large 4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD resolution (960 × 540), along with a dual-core application processor clocked at 1GHz and an 8-megapixel photo snapper. The smartphone runs under Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
According to Ausdroid
, Xperia P is set to land on Telstra’s network as soon as June 26th is here, and it will be offered for free on the $49 AUS Freedom Connect cap over 24 months.
No other wireless carrier in the country appears to have plans to add the device to its lineup for the time being.
