Unveiled back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Sony Xperia P has been available for pre-order in the UK since its official announcement.

However, customers were only able to pre-purchase the black color version via Clove UK. Starting today, those who prefer other colors will be able to pre-order the Xperia P all dressed up in silver, Clove claims.

The smartphone is currently priced at £380 (600 USD or 455 EUR) outright, and is expected to arrive in stock around April 23.

Sony Xperia P is part of the second wave of Sony-branded smartphones, along with the Xperia U. The handset is also one of Xperia NXT series devices, which was debuted by Sony back in February, during MWC 2012.

Obviously, there is no hardware or software difference between the two color variants, but those who are not familiar with the handset should know that this is a mid-range Android-based smartphone that comes with Gingerbread on board.

In this regard, Sony already confirmed plans to deliver an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the new Xperia NXT smartphones soon after their launch on the market.

The Xperia P boasts a scratch-resistant 4-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution. The screen is based on Sony’s new WhiteMagic technology.

Not as powerful as the Xperia S, this one is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz, and packs 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM. There’s no microSD card slot for memory expansion in this one either.

On the back, the smartphone sports an impressive 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

The phone’s 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 470 hours of standby time or up to 6 hours of talk time (5 hours in 3G mode).
