The Xperia neo L is one of the first Sony smartphones to hit shelves with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system onboard.

The handset is about to make its entrance on the Indian market for a price that proves to be a good deal for those who want a high-quality ICS-based smartphone.

Although the Japanese company decided to sell most of its 2012 Xperia smartphones through its Sony Store locations, it looks like Indian customers will be able to grab the Xperia neo L from select retailers across the country.

In this regard, major retailer Flipkart is currently accepting pre-orders for the Xperia neo L. Customers who wish to be among the first to receive this mid-range smartphone can pre-purchase it for only Rs 18,499 (335 USD or 270 EUR) outright.

As we already mentioned earlier, Sony Xperia neo L will be delivered with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, though we’re not sure if Sony wants to further upgrade it to Jelly Bean.

Design-wise, this is the spiritual successor of the Xperia neo, so expect the same rounded lines and slim form factor as the original model.

However, the Xperia neo L comes with a slightly larger 4.0-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

The rest of the features seem to be rather similar with one more exception, the main camera. While the Xperia neo boasts an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, the Xperia neo L sports only a 5-megapixel photo snapper with the same features.

Last but not least, Sony Xperia neo L drains power from an 1500 mAh Li-Polymer battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 575 hours of standby time (410 hours in 3G mode) or up to 8 hours of talk time (7 hours in 3G mode). Check it out here.
