Sony’s latest Android-based handsets have adopted a rather squarish design, yet it seems that there are some enthusiasts interested in seeing the company releasing phones with more rounded corners and edges.

Janish Kolakkattil is one of them, and the latest Xperia concept device shows what such a device might look like.

The phone, called Sony Xperia N1, represents only the imagination of said designer, though its outer looks might seem at least interesting to some of you.

The handset includes both a series of design elements present on Sony’s current Xperia devices, as well as some other parts that are usually spotted on devices coming from other mobile phone makers out there, such as Samsung and LG, as concept-phones notes.

For example, the phone sports dual LED-flash on the back, though there is also a new design element, some sort of a button, present between the two flashes.

Given that the power button is clearly visible on the smartphone’s side, there’s no telling what exactly the aforementioned button would serve for.

The phone’s hardware specifications, on the other hand, are similar to what one would see in an entry- to mid-range device today, starting with the 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU with Adreno 440 GPU.

The smartphone was also imagined with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, which also sports the X Reality Engine technology.

Moreover, the concept device packs a 13-megapixel camera on the back, with dual-LED flash and capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, paired with a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

The Sony Xperia N1 concept features 4G LTE connectivity capabilities, along with Wi-Fi, microUSB 2.0 with MHL support, Bluetooth, and NFC. Moreover, it is powered by a 1850mAh battery.

Packing dual-SIM capabilities, 8GB of internal storage, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, the handset also sports accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor and compass.

Moreover, the concept phone was imagined in white, black, red, purple and yellow color versions, as well as with a dotted back plate, which will certainly remind some of you of Samsung’s newly released Galaxy S5 flagship.

All in all, the Sony Xperia N1 looks like a very appealing mid-range phone, though it might never arrive on shelves. For the time being, it is only the product of a designer’s imagination, and there’s no telling whether Sony would ever consider bringing such a device to the market.
