Good news for Sony fans in Europe, as Xperia M2, one of the company's mid-range Android smartphones is now available for purchase in a few countries.

According to XperiaBlog, Sony Xperia M2 can now be purchased in the UK for around £220 (€270 / $370) outright. However, major carrier EE (Everything Everywhere) offers the smartphone for as low as £150 (€185 / $250) on PAYG (pay as you go).

The Xperia M2 is available in the UK through other retailers as well, including Clove, Hantec and Amazon UK, for various prices.

Another country where Sony Mobile introduced the Xperia M2 is Germany. According to the cited source, the smartphone is now available for purchase via Amazon Germany for only €260 ($355), which is slightly lower than the UK price.

Sony Xperia M2 is expected to arrive in other European countries as well, but only the single SIM variant is likely to be available in this region.

The dual-SIM Xperia M2 has already been launched in India and a few other Asian countries, which suggests this particular model has been developed especially for these emerging markets.

The Xperia M2 will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which might be its only downside. However, this is expected to be fixed quickly by Sony, as the Japanese company already confirmed the smartphone will receive an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

Furthermore, the mid-range Android smartphone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which is clocked at 1.2GHz. The Xperia M2 packs an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Although the smartphone only features 8GB of internal memory, users can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

On the back, the Xperia M2 packs an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

The phone's 4.8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution and features scratch-resistant glass coating.

When it comes to connectivity, the Xperia M2 offers a wide range of options, including LTE, 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS and microUSB. USB on-the-go is included as well.

Sony Xperia M2 drains energy from a 2300 mAh battery, which should provide up to 590 hours of standby time (635 hours in 3G mode) or up to 13 hours of talk time (14 hours in 3G mode).
