The smartphone comes with 4G LTE connectivity, an 8MP camera

On Tuesday, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has officially announced the availability of its Xperia M2 smartphone on the market in Hong Kong.

The handset was made official in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and arrives on shelves as a mid-range device with quite appealing capabilities.

As Engadget notes, the smartphone was launched in Hong Kong with a price tag of HK $2,498 ($322/€235) attached to it, which is not that much considering the fact that it can offer great connectivity capabilities, courtesy of support for 4G LTE networks out there.

The device was released with a 4.8-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution, which can easily prove a great option for many users out there, thanks to its size.

“The Xperia M2 boasts a big, bright 4.8” qHD display, built with Sony’s TV expertise. It’s perfectly sized for entertainment in your hand. And with balance in all directions and precision-crafted details, this elegant Android smartphone exudes design innovation too,” Sony explains on its website.

The new Xperia M2 also arrives on the market with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside, as well as with 1GB of RAM. Moreover, the smartphone features 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of external storage.

On the back, the Xperia M2 sports an 8-megapixel camera, which is capable of recording videos in full HD (1080p) resolution. A VGA camera for making video calls while on the go is also included.

“The Xperia M2 comes with an 8 MP camera that captures pictures of exceptional quality. Featuring our groundbreaking Exmor RS for mobile image sensor and Auto scene recognition, this fast smartphone gives you the best photos anywhere, at any time,” Sony says.

Xperia M2 will not offer only great camera applications, but will also enable users to easily share their photos and videos with their friends via Social live, which will broadcast everything to Facebook.

In addition to the aforementioned 4G LTE connectivity, the mobile phone also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, as well as NFC, DLNA, WiFi Hotspot, and a GPS receiver. Not to mention that it comes with HD Voice right from the start.

Sony Xperia M2 runs under the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and is powered by a 2300mAh battery, capable of offering up to 14 hours and 14 minutes of talk time, or up to 693 hours of standby time.
