The update has been confirmed for Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile

Back in late March, Sony Mobile announced that it had started to push the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia M. The dual-SIM version of Xperia M received the update a few days later as well.

Beginning today, Sony fans that have purchased their Xperia M devices in Canada through Bell and Virgin Mobile will be pleased to know that the update is now available for download.

According to MobileSyrup, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is pushed OTA (over the air), in stages, so not all Xperia units might get it at the same time.

Sony Xperia M owners should start checking for the Jelly Bean update on their devices by going to Settings / About phone / Software update. It might not be available right away, but do come back later as Sony has just started the rollout.

Unfortunately, this might be the last major update that the affordable Xperia M qualifies for. Sony has confirmed that the smartphone will receive an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade and has kept its promise, but there are no mentions of a possible Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

Anyway, let’s hope that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is stable enough and bug-free, so that Xperia M owners can enjoy an even smoother experience.
