Starting today, Sony’s Xperia J smartphone is available for purchase in various countries around the world, including Hong Kong, India, Russia and the UK.

The handset arrived in Hong Kong about a week ago, with a price tag of HK$2,098 ($270 / €208) attached to it, with a screen protector and an 8GB memory card included in the package.

Users in India have been offered the possibility to purchase the new device starting with this week, at INR 16,490 ($306 / €235), XperiaBlog notes.

Xperia J was also announced as available for purchase in Russia and the UK starting today. O2 UK has it available for £169.99 ($273 / €210) on PAYG, while retailer Handtec has listed it with a price tag of £180 ($290 / €223) attached to it.

The smartphone landed in Hong Kong and India only in white, but it is listed as available in the UK in a black flavor as well.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Sony Xperia J has been released with a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7227A chipset inside, as well as with an Adreno 200 (enhanced) GPU.

Moreover, the new mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a FWVGA resolution (480 x 854) and protected by Gorilla Glass.

Other specs of the new device include 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the Xperia J was packed with a 5-megapixel photo snapper, capable of recording high-definition videos, complemented by a VGA front-facing camera for making video calls.

The smartphone features a 1750mAh battery inside, and is powered by Google’s Android operating system, the same as all of the latest handsets that Sony has included in its Xperia lineup.
