Earlier this week, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has officially confirmed the availability of its Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual smartphones in India, and the latter is already up for grabs in the country.

The handset was said to hit shelves in India on March 10, yet Infibeam has already started selling it, and those interested in making a purchase can opt in for either the Black or the White version of the phone.

The best deal, however, is the fact that the retailer offers the new mobile phone at only Rs. 9,999 ($164/€118), which is less than what Sony has announced for it. Orders will ship to users in 2-3 days.

The Sony Xperia E1 Dual comes to the market with support for two SIM cards at the same time, which should make it more appealing than the single SIM version, set to land in India on March 25.

However, as the phone’s price tag suggests, we’re looking here at an entry-level smartphone, nonetheless one that is still capable of delivering appealing capabilities.

The smartphone was made official with a 4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an 800 x 480 pixels resolution, and which is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8210 processor.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with 512MB of RAM packed inside, as well as with 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Sony Xperia E1 Dual is powered by a battery capable of delivering up to 9 hours and 17 minutes of talk time, or up to 429 hours of standby time.

The smartphone also features a 3-megapixel camera on the back, with LED flash and Auto focus, as well as a VGA front camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

Connectivity wise, the handset packs HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm Audio Jack, and USB High Speed 2.0 port. A built-in GPS receiver is also available inside the phone, with aGPS support.

Sony has launched the Xperia E1 Dual with Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean loaded on top, as well as with a wide range of exclusive applications and software features.

All in all, the new device will prove a great competitor against Nokia X, which was made official last week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with roughly the same specifications.

Nokia’s phone is the same size as Xperia E1 Dual, but lacks the front camera and Google services, while running under a bit older version of the Android operating system. Nokia X was listed in India this week at Rs. 8,500 ($137/€100).
