Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has been long rumored to plan the release of new high-end Xperia devices before the end of this year, and some more info on one of these devices is now available, namely the Xperia Dogo.

For the time being, the handset is known only by this codename, though it might arrive on shelves with a different moniker attached to it, and in more than one flavor, it seems.

According to a recently spotted User Agent Profile, the phone will be launched with model numbers C5502 / C5503 / M36h / SO-04E attached to it, depending on the market, Blog of Mobile reports.

Additionally, the UAProf confirmed some of the possible hardware specifications of the new smartphone (the C5503 and C5502 models), such as the 4.6-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution.

Sony is also expected to pack the new mobile phone with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (APQ8064T) processor inside, though this remains to be confirmed.

When released, the handset should deliver support for GSM and W-CDMA 2100 frequencies, while running under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly bean operating system.

Xperia Dogo is expected on shelves in various Asian markets, including China and Japan, but also appears set to be released across Europe. In Japan, the phone will arrive as Xperia A SO-04E, and is expected to hit shelves at NTT DOCOMO, as reported before.

However, no device flavor that would offer support for US networks has been spotted, and it remains to be seen whether Sony has one such model in store as well.

Sony hasn’t confirmed any of the above for the time being, but chances are that it will announce the new device in the not too distant future, along with some other smartphones in its Xperia lineup, just as previous reports on the matter suggested, so stay tuned.
