Soon, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile should announce a new high-end smartphone in its Xperia lineup, one that has been long rumored to arrive on shelves with the codename of Sirius attached to it.

The handset, supposedly featuring model number Sony Xperia D6503, has leaked online quite a few times before, and it has made a new appearance online today, next to the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z smartphones.

Two images with the mobile phone have emerged now courtesy of a Digi-Wo user, who also claims that the mobile phone will be announced sometime in April as Xperia Z2.

However, as XperiaGuide notes, previous reports suggested that Sony might be set to launch the smartphone at MWC 2014 in Barcelona later this month, as it has already scheduled a press event on February 24.

There’s no official confirmation on whether Sony D6503 Sirius will indeed be launched as Xperia Z2 or not, and we’ll have to take the info above with a grain of salt for the time being. However, chances are that this will pan out, as Sirius has been rumored before to be launched as Xperia Z2.

Until specific details on the matter are provided, you should have a look at the aforementioned images with the device, as they unveil both the White and the Black versions of the phone.

In fact, the second image attached to this article also shows the smartphone next to the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z, so as to allow us to make an idea of how big it will be when compared to Sony’s latest flagship models.

Sony D6503 Sirius should arrive on shelves with a 5-inch or a 5.2-inch screen, a quad-core processor inside, and at least 2GB of RAM. It is also said to be running under the latest version of Android, namely 4.4 KitKat.
