14 DAY TRIAL // The Xperia C4 handset leaked in the wild as the Sony Cosmos for the first time, not so long ago, and thus we got the chance to take a look at the device.
Sony launched the Xperia C3 back in July 2014 as a mid-range device. The phone’s main selling point was its wide-angle front-facing camera, so the C3 was quickly classified as a “selfie” handset.
This week, Sony has also unveiled the Xperia C4, which is a bit unexpected given that most of us believed the company would wait a few months before making the official announcement.

Either way, the phone is here, so let’s see what we will be getting. The Xperia C4 arrives with a 5.5-inch IPS 1080p display (meaning 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) and a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor clocked at 1.7GHz with Mali-T760 MP2 GPU.
Other specifications include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card all the way up to 128GB), plus a 13MP (with LED flash) main shooter and 5MP selfie camera (with Exmor R sensor, so you should be expecting decent results).
The device ships out with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Sony’s custom UI plastered on top. Sony is also offering 4G connectivity and will be selling the phone in single and dual-SIM variants.
Moreover, the Xperia C4 takes advantage of Sony’s 3D Surround Sound technology and offers the services of Clear Audio+, Clear Bass and xLOUD experience.
The phone measures 150.3 x 77.4 x 7.9 mm / 5.9 x 3.04 x 0.3 inches and tips the scales at 147 g / 0.32 lbs.
How much would you pay for the Sony Xperia C4?
It seems that mid-range devices are getting better and better by the day, and the Xperia C4 is a great testimony of that.
Sony says the new phone will go on sale in early June in select markets across the world. As is customary with Sony, the company will release the handset in a number of color variations.
However, the most interesting part, the price, was left out from the set of details offered so far. How much will Sony ask for the Xperia C4? If priced competitively, this phone could indeed become a hit.
