Say wha...? The machine is a dust magnet for Christ's sake...

This would probably qualify as a "too dusty" PS3 to be replaced, and we're guessing this wasn't our guy's case

Here's a story you won't believe. A story that would make the guy who covered the vents on his PS3 look smart. An entry up on consumerist.com says that this guy sent his PS3 back to Sony for repair, after it started to malfunction, only to be denied on the count of a too dusty console. That wouldn't be a surprise, given all the idiots out there that treat their machines like "dirt," but this guy clearly knows his way around with electronics.

"6 hours later I get a call from Neil saying that unfortunately they have opened the case and taken pictures of the inside and outside of the case and that it was too dirty to be eligible for replacement. I paused for a good 8 seconds, because my PS3 had not moved from the entertainment center that it sat in more than 8 months I had wiped it off before sending it out, THE WHOLE POINT of the PS3 Is that it is part of your entertainment center! [...] my only options were to have the PS3 sent back, pay 150$ for a replacement, or leave it there for 10 days until it gets sent back."

Suppose he's not even telling the truth about keeping it in the entertainment center for 8 full months. What the hell could a person possibly do to get that much dust in their machine, so it's beyond replacement eligibility? You'd practically have to force a bag of dust through the vent holes and doing that just so you could send it over to Sony customer support makes absolutely no sense.

Also, the PS3 being known for gathering dust fast is still not an explanation. There had to be other, older household electronics in this guy's center that got smothered and I personally don't think anyone has the nerve to go through this kind of trouble knowing he's a dirty pig. The guy even mentions he loves his PS3 and the PlayStation brand, being a true Sony fanboy:

"I love the PS3, I'm a Sony fanboy, I have a copy of Heavenly Sword Un-Played because I'm waiting for the replacement to come back, For them to say they wont replace it because it is such a damn dust magnet is absolutely ridiculous."

What do you think he should do, guys? Go forth with his complaints, get people to support him, or give up and pay the 150$ for a replacement so he can finally enjoy playing Heavenly Sword?
