Microids' president expects help from players

On April 1, Microids announced that Syberia 3, the sequel that adventure players had been expecting for so long, was officially in development and that the game would come to the PC and the PlayStation 3.

A lot of people took the news with a grain of salt, considering the date of the announcement. But now the president of the development company is asking gamers for help in order to get Syberia 3 to the Sony console.

Emmanuel Olivier, who is the president of Microids, stated that “Syberia 3 is not an April Fool's joke. The game is highly expected by the community of fans of adventure games and fans of Kate Walker and it will be launched, it is one of our most strategic projects at Microïds and we have been anticipating it for a long time. It will be released on PC for sure, however, on PS3, this could actually turn into an April Fool’s joke because SONY is the only decision-maker on this point, as strange as it may seem to some people.”

The idea is that Sony seems to have limited the release of Syberia 2 for the PlayStation 3 in North America, which lowered the amount of money the company got from the game, when combined with the level of royalties that Sony took from the sales of the game in Europe. Olivier expects players to support the release of Syberia 3 by sending emails.

Syberia 3 is set to again follow Kate Walker as she tries to track down the place where mammoths continue to exist. The mechanics of the game will remain those of a point and click adventure but apparently Microids is planning to allow “those playing on PC and those playing on PS3 to collaborate online, thanks to a simultaneous data exchange and sharing mode on the two platforms.” This part still sounds like an April Fool’s concept.
