A yet-unannounced 13.1-inch Sony Vaio Z notebook model, dubbed the Vaio Z21, was exposed by a series of European retails who have listed both the system's specifications and its price ahead of its official introduction.

The machine is based on Intel's Huron River platform, which pairs together the company's second-generation Core processors with the Cougar Point platform controller hub, and Sony will sell at least four pre-configured models.

These can carry either the Core i5-2410M or the Core i7-2620M processors, which can be paired together with 4 or 8 GB of system memory.

Both Intel CPUs feature two processing cores, an integrated HD 3000 graphics core, support for the Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost technologies, as well as support for the AVX and AES-NI instruction sets.

Their clock speeds and amount of L3 cache memory are the only things that differ, since the Core i7 chip is clocked at 2.7GHz (3.4GHz in Turbo mode) and features 4MB of L3 cache, while the Core i5 works at 2.3GHz (up to 2.9GHz in Turbo mode) and comes equipped with 3MB of L3 cache.

The rest of the notebook configuration includes an 128GB or 256GB solid state drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Gigabit LAN connectivity, a 3G/HSDPA modem, as well as built-in webcam with a Sony Exmor image sensor.

In addition, the notebooks also sport an HDMI output, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 port, a fingerprint scanner, and a backlit keyboard.

The 13.1-inch screen has a native resolution of 1600X900 and also features LED back-lighting.

According to the F2F Italian e-tailer, which has listed the Vaio notebooks on its website, pricing starts at €1,809.00 and goes all the way up to €2,839.00, for the top of the line Core i7 machine.

No information regarding the official release date of these notebooks is available at this time. (via NotebookReview)
