Sony's actually been unusually active over the past couple of days, announcing a whole range of interesting novelties, the latest we've come across being three new additions to the company's A and D series of PC speakers.
The A series of desktop PC speakers has received a single new addition, namely the SRS-A3 model, a 2-channel audio solution sporting twin, highly compact cabinets capable of delivering a total power of 5W, as well as a frequency range of 150 up to 20,000 Hz.
The SRS-A3 speakers feature 57mm ferrite
speakers, while in the same time taking only a relatively small amount of space wherever they might get installed, since they measure 71 x 141 x 91 mm and weigh 205 grams (the left speaker) and 190 grams (the right speaker), respectively.
Next in line come the two additions to Sony's D Series, namely the SRS-D4 and SRS-D5 models, two 2.1-channel audio systems designed for computer users looking for an extra “oomph” during their daily PC usage experiences.
The SRS-D4 is now the entry-level model in the D Series, offering users a combined output of 27W, as well as 100-10,000 Hz frequency range.
The D4 features a compact sub-woofer made from a special resin, that also houses the available power, volume and bass volume controls.
Next in line comes the SRS-D5 audio system, that offers slightly more power (40W available), while also featuring a compact sub-woofer, this time around manufactured from an MDF material, for enhanced audio quality, while the controls are integrated within one of the satellites, for easier reach.
Unfortunately, Sony's not provided any pricing and availability details for their new A and D series desktop PC speakers for the time being, but it's quite likely that we'll find out more on these topics in the near future, when these things will start going on sale across Europe. Update: Although Sony's not providing any pricing details for the entire European region, our colleagues in charge of Softpedia's Spanish section pointed out that the new Sony PC speakers will most likely arrive in stores in April 2011, selling for 30, 50 and 60 Euro, respectively.
