Sony has just outed a new firmware version developed for its DSC-RX10 Cyber-Shot digital camera, namely build 2.00, which enables shooting 60p, 30p, 24p, and 120p movies in XAVC formats that support high bit-rates.

In order to be clear, these high bit-rates are as follows: 50p/25 (1920×1080), 100p (1280×720), 60p/30p/24p (1920×1080), and 120p (1280×720). However, bear in mind that, in order to shoot movies in these formats, class 10 SDXC memory cards (or faster) must be used.

Therefore, if you already have one of the compatible cards and intend to make use of this shooting mode, then save the downloadable executable on your desktop (compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems).

Now, close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade, run the “Update_DSCRX10V200.exe” file, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful update.

Even though the process seems easy, do not forget that you should use a fully charged battery, and during the installation, the battery or memory card must not be removed from the camera. Doing so will result in an update failure which can cause serious device malfunctions.

In addition to that, since applying the new software requires approximately 15 minutes to complete, it would be best if you changed the computer settings so that it would not enter any sleep mode.

That being said, download Sony DSC-RX10 Camera Firmware 2.00, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and upgrade your digital imaging unit to the latest software version.
