Sony has made available several firmware versions targeted at its SLT-A99 and NEX digital camera series, and has also updated the firmware for several lenses compatible only with the NEX-5R and NEX-6 devices.

To be clearer, Sony’s team has released upgrade version 1.02 for the SLT-A99, SLT-A99V, NEX-5R, and NEX-6 cameras, and firmware 1.03 compatible with the NEX-7 device.

In addition to that, separate files that update the SEL1855, SEL18200, SEL55210, SEL24F18Z, SEL30M35, and SEL50F18 lenses’ firmware to version 02 have been unveiled.

As for the changes that have been made, the NEX cameras get a movie AF drive system that improves the scalability and flexibility degree for future E-mount systems and lenses, respectively.

Moreover, the NEX-6 and NEX-5R’s firmware add support for the SEL1018, SEL35F18, SELP18200, SEL30M35, SEL50F18, SEL18200LE, SEL20F28, and SEL1670Z lenses compatible with the “Fast Hybrid AF” function.

The NEX-7 update applies automatic compensation for the SELP1650 lenses and makes them retract immediately after powering off the camera, and improves the image quality when using wide angle lenses, the auto review image display time, and the indication when “Flexible Spot” is on.

As for the A99 and A99V devices, their firmware adds HDMI simultaneous output mode (only if “HDMI Info. Display” is off), and includes support for automatic compensation and “Dual AF” function compliant lenses.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Sony camera, the desired firmware upgrade (either for the camera or lenses), as well as the computer’s OS.
