Among the world's thinnest point-and-shoot models

Although the summer holiday season is almost over (unfortunately), it would seem that various manufacturers of digital cameras are decided to keep our interest levels up. So, following Nikon's announcement regarding the P6000, Sony has also unveiled two new Cyber-shot models, the T77 and the T700, designed especially for those people looking for a very thin point-and-shoot camera for daily use.

Since it's just 15mm thin (13.9mm at the thinnest point), the Cyber-shot T77 is touted to be the world's slimmest camera and is available in a range of five colors, black, silver, pink, green and brown. Furthermore, the attractive external design is further accentuated by the 3-inch touchscreen LCD, which can be used for controlling all the functions of the camera.

Besides its very interesting external design, the T77 also packs some pretty advanced technology on the inside. Thus, there's a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens to ensure a very good image quality, with a 4x optical zoom range, which is quite an impressive achievement, given the size of the camera.

Moreover, complementing the BIONZ processor, the device offers High Sensitivity (maximum ISO 3200), clear RAW Noise Reduction and there's also a Dynamic Range Optimiser (DRO) that ensures a better balance between bright highlights and deep shadows. The camera also packs some of those features that are so popular with the mainstream consumers, as for example the Smile Shutter mode and the Anti-Blink technology.

The Cyber-shot T700, on the other hand, is described by Sony as a hybrid between a digital camera and a photo album. And that's because the wide, 3.5-inch Xtra Fine LCD display can be used for viewing the numerous photos (up to 40,000, to be more precise) stored in the 4 GB of internal memory that digital camera comes with, a rather peculiar feature, compared to most other similar products on the market.

Similar to the T77, the Cyber-shot T700 features enhanced Smile Shutter, improved Face Detection, anti-blink technology and refined Intelligent Scene Recognition and it is also available in no less than five different color options.

Unfortunately, no pricing details are available for the time being, but we're likely to find out a lot more about these things when they'll finally land in stores across Europe, at some point in September.
