Sony, one of the world's leading vendors of personal computer systems, announced today the debut of its new line of VAIO F series notebooks, designed for multimedia enthusiasts looking for a laptop with a full HD screen and powerful graphics. The new series was designed for sheer performance, enabling users to take advantage of the features and power of the latest hardware components in the IT segment, all within a portable PC that comes with a 16.4-inch display.

At the heart of Sony's latest VAIO F series is one of Intel's latest mobile processors, namely the Core i7-720QM, boasting a core speed of 1.6GHz and featuring a 4-core, 8-threaded design. This high-performance processor was combined with 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM and a 500GB SATA hard drive. In addition, powering the 16.4-inch, full HD VAIO display is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processing unit, featuring 1GB of GDDR3 VRAM. The configuration is said to be capable of providing the end-user with the necessary performance to run high-end 3D graphics, as well as smooth full 1080p HD video playback.

Additional features that were built into the new line of VAIO notebooks include a Blu-ray Disc writer, WLAN 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity. There's also a Display Off button and an eSATA/USB combo port, for fast transfer rates between the internal hard drive and external storage solutions. In addition to that, the laptop is featured with the proprietary Motion Reality HD and Video Optimiser technologies meant to provide the end-users with a high-quality cinematic playback of Full HD movies on Blu-ray Disc.

Despite no words on the pricing details of the new laptop series, the PC vendor announced that VAIO F Series would be available in stores from the end of this month, while users pre-ordering their systems from the company's Sony Style website will be able to configure their laptops with the desired HDD capacities.
