Sony is among the few systems vendors that can provide users with an all-in-one computer. Up until recently, the company only offered a single all-in-one model, part of its LT series of desktop systems. However, the consumer electronics company has decided to roll out two new series of similar desktop computer systems, both of which are designed to offer customers everything they need from a high-performance system, built in a single device.

The new All-in-One VAIO Desktop PCs include the JS-series and the RT-series, which are meant to extend the company's current offer. However, the two new series differ considerably one from the other, both in terms of design and targeted users.

The JS-series PC has been designed with usage in kitchens and dens in mind. It is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor, running at 3.0GHz, and provides 4GB of RAM memory, 500GB or storage space on a 7200RPM hard drive, and an impressive 20.1-inch LCD. In terms of connectivity, the system includes Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth with A2DP support and a modem, five USB ports, audio and microphone inputs, iLink Firewire, S/PDIF output, and a headphone jack. Furthermore, on top of the 20.1-inch LCD, there's a built-in 1.3MP webcam and a microphone, to further complete the system's functionalities.

The other all-in-one system is touted by the company as being “a super-powerful video authoring PC tucked behind a stunning 25.5-inch HDTV.” The RT is based on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor running at 2.5GHz. Equipped with 8GB of RAM, the system also brings an impressive 1TB of storage on two SATA hard drives set in RAID. The powerful 25.5-inch display is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT with 512MB of dedicated VRAM. As with the JS-series, the RT system also provides a considerable number of connectivity options, including five USB 2.0 ports, two RF inputs, one S-Video input, iLINK, headphone and S/PDIF outputs. There's also an e-SATA, HDMI in and HDMI out.

The RT also includes a slot-loading Blu-ray drive and NTSC/ATSC TV Tuners, as well as Gigabite Ethernet, WiFi b/g/n, and Bluetooth with A2DP support.

As you might have already guessed by now, these systems don't come cheap. If the JS-series is available for a maximum of $1,449 (with built-in read-only Blu-Ray drive), the RT-series will be priced between $3,300 and $4,000. Both systems will become available in fall, when you will also be able to purchase the JS-series in black, silver or pink color options. In addition, Sony will provide its users with a custom keyboard and mouse for either of the all-in-one systems.
