Concomitantly with Sony Electronics's unveiling of the LocationFree Base Stations (LF-B10 and LF-B20) and the LocationFree TV Box, the San Diego-based company also revealed pricing details for the products. In this regard, the suggested retail price tags are $200, $250 and $230. Sony Electronics will make the products available for the general public, come October 2006.

"No matter if you are at home or on the road, accessing the content you want to see, when you want to see it, has never been easier," said Hideyuki Furumi, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' IT Products Division. "The setup has been streamlined and our new models allow you to view quality video on a host of client devices."

The LocationFree devices are a fertile medium for wirelessly streaming television, and video content to remote machines via a broadband connection. Designed with extensive compatibility, the LocationFree devices can be connected to entertainment systems through the Base Station. The installation of registration software onto hosting devices is a requirement, as it is a connection speed of minimum 300 kbps. The Sony devices come complete with an Advanced Video Coding codec and the LF-B20 model supports direct connectivity with existing wireless networks.

"Ideal for travelers, the LocationFree TV Box is small and easily connects to any remotely located TV so you can conveniently receive video content from your home setup. The TV Box also features an on-screen remote and a standard remote that can be used to control the device from a distance," stated Sony in the press release.
