It can store barcodes, flight information and boarding passes

Most wrist-worn devices I’ve covered so far were “standard” fitness trackers or smartwatches, and variations of the two, but now I have something more unusual, and much more specific in purpose, to share with you: the Sony-Vueling wearable boarding pass.

Well, technically, it's still the Sony SmartWatch 2, but with a new ability made possible by an app.

In case you're wondering, Vueling is an airline company that also helps find hotels, rent cars and pretty much plan your entire trip or vacation.

In other words, its portfolio is similar to that of many other companies of its type. However, Vueling now has the privilege of being the first and only company that offers a wearable boarding pass.

Well, technically, Sony is the one offering the pass, since it's its SmartWatch 2 that will be doing the work.

Still, the Vueling app is the one that will store flight information and boarding passes, complete with 2D barcodes. So if you lose your boarding card or don't print it, you can swipe your watch when passing through security and voila! Instant permission.

The Vueling app will be available in the Google Play Store by the end of the current month (March 2014).
