Sony decided it was time to hold a formal even in order to officially introduce its latest and greatest series of ultrathin mobile personal computers, making sure the event did justice to the combination of portability and prowess.

Some might remember that, a short while ago, Sony unveiled the VAIO Z series of laptops, composed of ultrathin models which, nonetheless, packed very high specs.

Now, that same company has held an official event where it displayed not just the laptop in its full glory, but also everything that will complement or supplement it.

For those that want a reminder as to what the machine (weighing only 1.2 kilograms) can do, its hardware is centered around the Intel Core i7-2620M central processing unit (CPU).

This chip has a frequency of 2.7 GHz, though the Turbo Boost technology can push it all the way up to 3.4 GHz.

Meanwhile, 8 GB of DDR3 memory back the processor up, while the integrated graphics work with the 13.3-inch full HD screen (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution), a panel that can supposedly display 96% of the Adobe RGB color gamut.

The specs aren't necessarily as relevant as the means that Sony used to cram them all in the 16.65mm-thick package.

For one, the fans are smaller than the regular ones and the RAM modules have been customized, although, true enough, this does mean no memory upgrades.

Then again, one will be hard-pressed to find any application demanding enough to overtax the already included, aforementioned 8 GB.

Needless to say, the full range of connectivity and I/O options is present, although one's attention might be drawn more towards the RAID storage functionality and the Power Media Dock, a docking station with simple looks but which, nonetheless, includes a Radeon HD 6650M mobile GPU, a Blu-ray drive and various ports.

Unfortunately, as before, Sony refrained from disclosing any sort of pricing details.
