Sony has trademarked the PlayStation TV name with the U.S. Patent Office, registering the brand for use with all sorts of entertainment services and devices.

Sony isn't just focusing on the upcoming PlayStation 4 next-gen console or the PS3 current-gen experience, but it's also been exploring the possibility of releasing PlayStation-branded accessories and peripherals.

One such thing was the PlayStation 3DTV Display, which was sold a few years ago to promote the PlayStation 3's 3D capabilities.

Now, Sony has trademarked the PlayStation TV brand with the U.S. Patent Office.

Its list of goods and services is quite lengthy and spans different types of entertainment and methods of delivery.

It's unclear if the PlayStation TV will be an actual TV or a streaming service that will allow the delivery of digital entertainment.

As of yet, Sony hasn't talked about the trademark filing.
