Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has started rolling out a new software update for the owners of Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact devices out there, so as to resolve an audio issue that users reported with their smartphones.

The new software arrives on devices as version 14.3.A.0.757 and is based on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, just as firmware 14.3.A.0.681 before it.

The update was destined mainly to resolve the aforementioned audio bug, which has annoyed a lot of users out there, and which appeared immediately after Android 4.4.2 KitKat started rolling out to said devices.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the aforementioned issue resulted in devices playing sounds through the internal speaker, rather than sending them to the external one.

Thus, users found that it was impossible to play music sometime, and that notifications could not be heard either, since the phone did not play loud sounds, as it should have.

The new firmware release should resolve that, and all versions of the Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact should receive it, a recent post on XperiaBlog reads.

Apparently, the update is already available for download in a great deal of regions out there, and it might not be too long before it arrives in other markets as well.

As soon as the new firmware is available for their devices, users should receive a notification, informing them on the matter. They will be able to either download the update immediately, or to postpone the action.

Owners of said handset who have already upgraded to KitKat can also manually check on the availability of the update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software update. The update is available through the Sony PC Companion app as well.

The new firmware version 14.3.A.0.757 is said to have already started to arrive on Xperia Z1 (C6903) smartphones in Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Nordic Countries, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden.

Owners of Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503) phones in Austria, China, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Poland, the Philippines, and Russia should also see the update available for them.

As for Xperia Z Ultra (C6833), the software should already emerge as available for handsets in Germany and the UK, it seems. As mentioned above, the update should start rolling out to other countries out there as well shortly, so stay tuned to learn more details on the matter.
