Sony has once again ruled out the possibility of seeing a price cut for the PlayStation Vita handheld console this year, with its Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida saying that, for the moment, the company is focusing on impressive bundles to attract customers.

The PlayStation Vita was released at the beginning of the year and Sony managed to attract quite a lot of people by offering an array of impressive games right at its launch, ranging from Uncharted: Golden Abyss, to Wipeout 2048, Unit 13, and much more.

Sadly, the following months haven’t exactly delighted new Vita owners and failed to attract customers to the handheld device.

As such, many reports started floating around the web about a potential price cut, as many speculated that Sony would follow Nintendo’s 3DS example and slash the price of the Vita.

Such a thing won’t happen anytime soon, as Sony’s Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer that “it’s too early” for a price cut.

This doesn’t mean that Sony isn’t thinking about ways to make the Vita more attractive.

“Of course, cost reduction is one area our engineering team is working on. But we just launched the platform earlier this year. It takes time to do so,” he said.

“At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting. But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles. We announced we will provide LittleBigPlanet Vita bundle pack. That's affordable for people who are looking for a good deal.”

Plenty of other bundles were also revealed during Sony’s Gamescom 2012 press conference, including one with the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified shooter that’s certain to attract at least a portion of the franchise’s many fans.
