Up to 16GB of storage space and a rainbow of colors

As you probably know quite well already, the Japanese electronics' giant, Sony, has the habit of launching products that deliver a very attractive external design, besides the high-end components from within. And this is exactly the case with the company's latest flash-based external storage solutions, the MicroVault Click and Click Excellence series, which offer up to 16 GB of storage space (as well as several other attractive features) packed in a colorful casing.

As their names suggest, both the MicroVault Click and Click Excellence ranges incorporate a neat 'click' design to uncover and retract the USB connector for quick and easy use. However, the design is just the first thing that will draw the customers' attention to these products, as their internal features are equally interesting.

Featuring very fast data transfer rates (31MB/s read and 11MB/s write speeds), as well as some pretty OK storage capacities (from 2GB up to 8GB), the MicroVault Click Excellence has been designed with business professionals in mind, says Sony. For this reason, the Click Excellence range is available in a stylish, compact, ivory design, complete with LED indicator display which illuminates while transferring the data.

On the other hand, the mid-range MicroVault Click targets a rather different market segment. It has a reduced form factor (as compared to its predecessor) and is lighter at approximately 9 grams. This series delivers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 data transfer (with the actual transfer speeds being, most likely, inferior to those delivered by the Excellence version) and storage capacity from 2GB up to 16GB. The MicroVault Click range has a bright design, with one color per capacity via a LED indicator light.

Another very important worth mentioning fact about the Sony MicroVault Click range is that it offers Windows ReadyBoost compatibility, allowing Windows Vista to use part of the MicroVault's memory to speed up system performance without forcing users to purchase additional, expensive RAM memory modules. Furthermore, Sony's pre-installed Virtual Expander compression software allows storage of up to 3 times more data, depending on the file type and content.

Both models will arrive in stores across Europe starting with May 2008, but pricing details are not available for the time being (and will probably vary quite a bit, depending on the specific market).
