Sony has just announced that a new software update for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra is now available for download. According to the Japanese handset maker, this firmware update brings lots of bug fixes and improvements, mostly based on users’ feedback.

For the Xperia Z1, Sony has confirmed that it has tweaked the camera algorithm for better overall performance and has refined its Smart Social Camera platform, so the Xperia Camera apps run much smoother, including Burst Mode, Superior Auto, AR Effect and Sweep Panorama.

Those who own the Xperia Z Ultra will be pleased to know that Sony has optimized touchscreen sensitivity, for both finger gestures and writing (sketching) with pencils, metal pens and selected styluses.

Last but not least, the following changes have been added to both Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra:

- re-calibrated the display ever so slightly, to ensure viewing experiences remain bright & bold; - economised power consumption for longer battery life; - streamlined Exchange connection for faster email sync, display and download.

The new firmware update’s timing and availability may vary by market and carrier, so stay tuned for more info on this one.
