Sony is one of the few handset makers that managed to deliver major software updates for its products as promised. Samsung is close enough, but Motorola and LG are still lagging behind.

AndroidPolice reports the newest Sony smartphone to receive a Jelly Bean update is Xperia TX. The Japanese company promised a few months ago, it will bring the device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in Q2 2013.

Well, it looks like Sony has kept its promise, as an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is now available for download via PC Companion.

Unfortunately, Sony has yet to come forward with an official announcement regarding this update. There are no details on the update’s changelog yet, but we expect the Xperia TX will get the same new features and improvements that were added to Xperia T and Xperia V.

Check out below the full changelog for the update that upgraded both Xperia T and V to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system:

“Updated, more intuitive versions of Sony Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies: Lets you view and access all your photos, videos and tunes in one place.

Increased options for personalization: A revamped home screen experience for handling widgets, apps and shortcuts… With up to 7 desktop panes, widgets that auto-resize and actionable notifications, you have complete flexibility to create the interface you want / need with a few simple touches!

Improved app organization and search: Application tray sorting is that bit breezier – just press and hold on any app – move, add it to your desktop or create a folder within the tray by dropping it on top of another! We’ve also added a new search function within the application tray that makes it easy to locate your local apps.

Improved camera functionality: More intuitive viewfinder with the addition of auto scene setting, and the option to switch between front and back camera with a single touch.

Google Now: Combining the power of Google search and user profiling, Google Now helps you accomplish daily tasks more efficiently.”

We will keep an eye out for any changes that haven’t been mentioned, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

UPDATE: Sony has just confirmed Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rollout has started for Xperia TX, but there are no additional changes beside those listed above.
