The VR device does not have a launch window

We already have official launch dates for two virtual reality devices, and it seems that the third major player in the market, Project Morpheus from Sony, is getting some solid support from the company, in the form of a new exclusive development team.

The newly created North West Studio is described as ambitious and will apparently only work on virtual reality video games.

As the name implies, the new company is based in the north west of England, and Sony claims that it wants to create a small but very experienced team, as shown in a screenshot captured by AllGamesBeta.

All the projects associated with North West Studio will be designed to showcase the way virtual reality, as delivered by Project Morpheus, will be the new revolutionary movement to sweep the video game world.

Those interested in getting a job at the new studio will need to apply on the official site, as long as they have the necessary qualifications.

At the moment, the Project Morpheus device does not have an official launch window, although Sony will probably try to introduce it in early 2016.

It will be compatible with the PlayStation 4 home console, and the company has not yet said which video games will support it when it is finally introduced.

Project Morpheus is part of a wave of virtual reality platforms

The new technology from Sony was announced once a number of other virtual reality devices were announced.

The Vive from Valve and HTC is at the moment set to be introduced in the fall of this year, and the two companies have claimed that its design solves all the issues associated with previous platforms, like nausea and limited motion.

The Oculus Rift, which was the first to be announced and gathered initial funding using the Kickstarter crowdfunding service, is aiming to arrive in early 2016 and recently revealed its system requirements.

Microsoft is also trying to create a competitor, with the less ambitious augmented reality-focused HoloLens.

Project Morpheus does not yet have an attached price, but Sony has said that it wants to make it affordable and that it is aiming to deliver the software support required to make the entire virtual reality wave a success.
