The team at Sony that handles the operation of the PlayStation Network is resetting player passwords after it has detected irregular activity on its service.

The Verge reports that a number of users have been receiving e-mail messages from the company and even those who are not affected should change their security information at this point.

The message from Sony states, "Your account password was recently reset as part of this process and you will need to create a new password the next time you access your account using the 'Forgot Your Password' option on the Sign in screen."

Users of the PSN are also encouraged to make sure that their passwords are complex, while also monitoring their accounts for any sort of suspicious activities.

Sony has not offered any sort of details about the security breach that has prompted the password reset.
