Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has made available for download yet another application for the owners of Android-based devices, in the form of the Xperia Transfer Mobile.

Just as its name suggests, the application was designed to provide users with the possibility to easily transfer all of their data from a handset to a new Xperia phone.

With this software, users will be able to grab Contacts, Calendar, SMS, MMS, Bookmarks, Notes, Photos, Music, Videos, and Apps (iPhone only), and have them available on their new smartphone right from the start.

“Xperia Transfer Mobile is an ultra-easy, safe and simple app that’ll help you move your contacts, photos and much more from your old Android or iOS device to your new Sony Xperia,” the company explains.

According to the company, data synced with online services, such as contacts, will not be transferred. As for the aforementioned transfer of application, it actually involves suggesting corresponding applications that are suitable for Xperia handsets (not all iOS apps might be available).

“Simply download, install and activate Xperia Transfer Mobile, then pair your new Sony Xperia with your old iPhone. You’re ready to go once the phones are connected. Choose which content to transfer..... then let Xperia Transfer Mobile do the work for you,” the company explains.

“When pairing Android devices, connect by entering the PIN code or just touch the two phones to start the NFC transfer process, and your content will be transferred wirelessly.”

The Xperia Transfer Mobile app can be used to transfer data from any Android device that runs under version 4.0 or newer of the mobile operating system. At the same time, it allows users to transfer data from iPhone with iOS 4.0 and later versions.

The new smartphone, however, has to be an Xperia handset that is powered by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean MR2 and later versions.

Xperia Transfer Mobile is available for download through the Google Play store as version 1.0.1 now. It can be picked up for free.
