Sony has formally introduced the SRS-BTV5, SRS-BTM8 and the ZS-BTY52 wireless speakers / speaker systems, but they are only available in India.
We imagine that the company will expand availability eventually, but no word on that exists yet.
In any case, all of them have support for Bluetooth, which means they can play music or the audio streams of a film from any smartphone, tablet or PC. That includes phone calls on the SRS-BTV5 and SRS-BTM8, which also have microphones.
They also have NFC (near-field communication), which permits them to instantly link phones and tablets to them, provided they are within touching distance.
First off, the ZS-BTY52 Wireless speaker, in addition to NFC and Bluetooth, has AM and FM radio, plus a USB port and auxiliary input to connect to MP3 or MP4 players.
LED lighting brand is included as well, plus a battery that can last for up to 11 hours. As for the design, we may go so far as to say this item resembles a full-blown stereo.
Moving on, the SRS-BTM8 (see the first image) has hands-free call support, a two-way power supply with AA batteries and AC adapter, a built-in handle, bass reflex system, and a battery that can last for 20 hours.
That leaves the SRS-BTV5 Wireless speaker, with support for all Bluetooth devices that have A2DP. It looks like a colored bubble.
It also has an audio-in port (for devices lacking Bluetooth), the microphone for calls, the Sony 360-degree Circle Sound audio diffusion technology (music in each corner of the room) and a battery that can last for 5 hours without recharge.
As for pricing, the SRSBTV5 wireless speaker sells for Rs. 3,990 / $74 / €57, the SRS-BTM8 is priced at Rs. 5,990 / $110 / €85, and the ZS-BTY52 at Rs. 8990 / $165 / €127.
