Wasn't that PSP connection already available before...?

If you're the lucky owner of a PS3 from Sony (like you could get it from another console manufacturer...), then you must be quite furious on its lack of games. Don't worry, it's not you, everyone's mad at Sony for releasing a $600 console and not providing customers with any games. But, how about a firmware upgrade? I'd say take it. It's better than nothing.

Version 1.80 doesn't bring much really, just a couple of "upgrades" to be quite honest with you, but hey, at least we know they're working on the issues over there at Sony's HQ. Mainly, it upscales PSX and PS2 games, while DVD movies can be played now up to full 1080p HD resolution, when viewed on a compatible HD TV set.

Then it gets fuzzy. The press release says that Version 1.80 also allows users to enjoy Remote Play on their PSP across the internet, allowing them to access their PS3 anywhere in the world where a broadband internet connection is available. I thought that was already available. What, did they improve it or did they just make it available? I want to know...!

They say firmware Version 1.80 also allows users on a home network to seamlessly view and play rich media content such as images, music and video on their PS3, that is stored on their DLNA3 enabled devices such as PCs and laptops elsewhere in the house. OK, are we still talking PS3 here? Cause if we aren't I'm going elsewhere to get some information on what this firmware upgrade does. How about some improved features for the gameplay experience...? That's what people buy the damned machine for don't they?

Anyway, other enhancements include the ability to print photo images stored on the PS3's hard disk or inserted storage media to a selection of Epson printers. PS3 owners will be able to upgrade their PS3s with this latest Version 1.80 firmware starting 24th May, which is tomorrow. I feel you're not that impressed.
