In keeping with its image of provider of all sorts of consumer electronics devices, Sony has launched a range of headphones, Extra Bass.

The MDR-XB800, MDR-XB600 and MDR-XB400 are large headphones with Advanced Direct Vibe Structure, this being the source of the stronger bass.

The MDR-XB60EX is the only in-ear model, but its acoustic design has “exceptional” bass response and high-level noise isolation.

Basically, the first three are for when you aren't walking down the street, or traveling around enough to make large headphones seem bulky. That's the fourth one's turf.

Sales are underway on the Sony store, for $59.99 to 149.99 (46-59.99 Euro to 116-149.99 Euro).

"Sony's sound engineers are committed to providing an unprecedented level of audio performance," said Andrew Sivori, vice president of the personal audio division at Sony Electronics. "Our new Extra Bass lineup of headphones delivers solid low frequency response, enhancing the signature of today's music styles."
