After releasing in April the "lighter size" Walkman series featuring an exclusive quick-charge technology which gives three hours of battery life in just three minutes of charging,
as the MP3 players are capable of 28 hours of playback in the ATRAC3 format and about 27 hours in MP3 format, the manufacturer unveils its latest "big audio player" - NW-A1200 - with a storing capacity of 8GB.
The new Sony walkman NW-A1200 is the first Sony player to offer 8 GB of memory space and an astonishing 20-hour battery life, as it is meant to be iPod's nano challenger.
iPod nano is one of the most profitable Apple products, as its menu is more than user-friendly, enabling the user to browse by artist, composer, album, song, genre or playlist, and mix songs by just clicking on Shuffle Songs button. It benefits from a 1.5-inch color display and 4GB storage capacity.
It can also be instantly linked to iTunes online service, and the favorite songs tumble down on the great display.
As a result, Sony's NW-A1200 will be a serious competition, as it features a superior storage capacity and a great resolution display, but the design lacks in originality and we all know that gadget fans like their devices to be not only "long runners", but also good looking. In fact, Sony hasn't modified the design, preferring to increase the storage capacity and some other features.
However, the player includes the SonicStage CP software, which also supports the AAC music format used by the iPod. The third device released within two days that supports Apple's format. Also, NW-A1200 will be the highest capacity model in the series (the NW-A1000 has a 6GB hard drive).
The manufacturer hasn't revealed NW-A1200's price, but it is rumored that it will be available in mid-June on the worldwide market at a retail cost of about 400$.
