A few moments ago, Sony has just made available a new firmware package targeted at its lens-style cameras, namely version 3.00 compatible with the Cyber-shot DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 devices, which can be applied on both Windows and Mac OSes.

Specifically speaking, the producer has outed two downloadable records for each device: one compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit architectures), and the other targeted at Mac platforms.

As for the changes, this fresh update adds support for the “Half-Press” shutter function, enhances the NFC One-touch by reducing the connection time, and keeps the improvements provided by the previous version, namely Firmware 2.00 for Sony Lens-Style Cameras.

When it comes to applying this release, get and run the proper downloadable package for your OS, remove any connected memory card, and connect the camera to the computer through a USB cable.

After the system has recognized the camera, click twice on the updater’s “Next” button, check to ensure that the “Current Version” is lower than 3.00 (on the bottom-left side of the utility), and click “Next” once more.

Now follow the displayed instructions, stop the USB connection (do not remove the cable), and press the camera’s shutter button to reset the device. When done, press “Next” and then “Run” on the updater to initiate the upgrade process.

When the installation has completed, select “Finish,” disconnect the USB cable, and turn off the camera. Now, remove and reinsert the battery pack, and you have successfully updated the device.

That being said, download Sony Lens-style Camera Firmware 3.00 for the proper device and operating system, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the latest firmware, and enjoy your newly updated device.
