Break NFS ProStreet next time, will you?!

A week ago we informed you about the new PS3 firmware, version 2.0 and we mentioned that it was plagued by issues, supposing that we would soon see a brand new firmware to fix it. Turns out that we were right, as the 2.01 firmware update is now available and it features fixes of the previous version's problems.

The latest reports showed that version 2.0 caused frequent Assassin's Creed crashes, but Sony seems to have solved the problem with the update. Be advised that the new firmware doesn't include new features, focusing instead on increasing the device's stability. Here's the list of major improvements brought by the new piece of software, as mentioned by Megagames.com:

"- Stability during playing some PLAYSTATION 3 format software has been improved.

- Stability of System Software including Internet Browser and Information Board has been improved.

- Stability of the upscaler for PlayStation 2 format software has been improved. (Playability of PlayStation 2 depends on model)

- [Remote Start] feature is changed to avoid unintended power on. "

Do you think that we've just brought you good news? Wait till you hear this! It also seems that this firmware is having some trouble of its own, having supposedly broken Call of Duty 4's multiplayer. There's no official statement from Sony or Activision (for now), so we're not 100% sure, as the only sources for this info are angry gamers, crying their heart out on CoD 4's official forum.

When will the Sony-branded firmware issues end? Did the Japanese company's officials ever think about changing their software development team (and hardware if you ask me)? Maybe, they'll lure a couple of Xbox 360-based developers with the mirage of big money and capitalize on the specialist's skills... Just a lucky guess here, but I can already imagine that a firmware version 2.02 will be out, probably breaking Need for Speed ProStreet or something.
