The team at Sony working on the PlayStation Now game streaming service for the PlayStation 4 says that it expects to launch it during the summer in North America with a couple hundred titles included in the library, offering players a wide variety of genres and experiences.

The information comes from a producer named Todd Liss who says that his company is working on improving the technology that it uses in order to quickly add even more games after the service is introduced.

At a recent event, the company showed Uncharted 3: Drake’s Fortunte running on the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Now and Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus played on the Vita.

At the same time, GameInformer says that a number of titles were added to the official PlayStation Store for the PS4, which were previously only offered on the PS3.

They are Dead Island Riptide, Ben 10 Omniverse and MX vs ATV Alive.

The games cannot be downloaded by users of the PlayStation 4, but they might be part of that first wave of PlayStation Now titles that are set to be launched in June with the new service.

Sony has not offered any comment on their presence and some users have reported that they sometimes disappear from the store entirely, which might suggest that the company is testing some features at the moment.

Probably more information will be offered later during the month.

The PlayStation Now service is at the moment set to be launched in North America in early summer. Sony says that it will offer a launch date for the service in Europe before the end of the year.

The technology used is the one that Sony acquired from Gaikai and the final aim is to create a simple and easy way for players to enjoy their favorite titles via emulation on remote servers on devices that range from the PlayStation 4 to the Vita and smart television sets.

A beta for PlayStation Now is running at the moment and reports are saying that the included library currently comprises 19 titles, all taken from the PlayStation 3, like Shadow of the Colossus, WipEout HD, Dead or Alive 5, Dead Island and Real Steel.

Those involved initially reported long loading times and some problems with performance, but it seems that Sony has been steadily improving the performance of the service and it is now mostly running without any major issues for the testers.
