Shuhei Yoshida, the leader of the Sony Worldwide Studios, says that his company wants the PlayStation 4 to have a ten-year life cycle, with extensive support and games that use its full feature set.

In an interview with CVG, the executive says that the long life of the PlayStation 4 is linked to its hardware features.

He states, “the PS4 has an incredible amount of RAM and I don't think any launch titles need that 8GB of RAM. So there's room for growth in both game content and system features.”

The PlayStation 4 is designed to get constant updates from Sony, all of which will be downloaded in the background.

The company also has a number of collaborations, like that with Naughty Dog, which tend to test the limits of the included hardware while delivering complex gameplay experiences.
